Buddhism and Dzogchen

Buddhism offers multiple nondual currents: emptiness (śūnyatā), Buddha-nature, Zen direct pointing, and Tibetan Dzogchen (“Great Perfection”).

  • No permanent, independent self (anātman)
  • Suffering arises from clinging and ignorance
  • Liberation through insight, ethics, and skillful means
  • Mindfulness and concentration
  • Analytical meditation on emptiness
  • Dzogchen resting in rigpa (primordial awareness)
  • Ethical precepts and compassionate action

The interdependence of wisdom and compassion; explicit attention to suffering and ethical conduct.

Buddhism often emphasizes process, emptiness of inherent existence, and the path structure. Dzogchen parallels Advaita in direct awareness teachings while remaining within Buddhist ethics.
